Ok we might have mentioned it once or twice, but the truth is we’re very passionate about this! That’s why at Vegums we leave no stone unturned to make a pure vegan product for you.
There’s the obvious things we’ve changed, like using pectin from citrus fruits as a gelling agent instead of the hooves of cattle. But there’s also less obvious ways that manufacturers can sneak animal products into your food. Take vitamin D, this mostly comes from sheep wool - weird right? But we’ve extracted ours from mushrooms, which is good news for us and even better for the sheep.
What about sugar, that’s vegan right? Nah ah, most sugar that is found in food has been filtered and whitened using the bones of cattle. We use natural unrefined cane sugar in Vegums because we know that like us, you want to do your bit to stop this abuse of animals.
But just so you know we’re not making it up, Vegums have been certified ‘Vegan’ by The Vegan Society, so you can enjoy chewing on your lovely Vegums, whilst sending a message that it’s not ok to harm animals.
As a company we will continue to develop healthy, delicious, plant-based products that will make it easy for people to switch to a plant-based diet whilst staying healthy.
Being vegan is thought to cut your carbon footprint in half as animal agriculture is one of the leading causes of climate change. That’s not all, the same boffins have estimated that vegans save 1,100 gallons of water each day. So we’re already leading the way in fighting climate change!
So sending your Vegums out in plastic wouldn’t sit right with us. That’s why we’ve developed our packaging to be completely plastic free; from reusable metal tins, to biodegradable cellulose bags, we’ve got it all covered!
Before plastic there was tin. Tins are great because they’re too precious to throw away and this means that people reuse them, and carry them around. In fact, I still have a tin in use today, that came from my mum, that came from her mum… you get the point.
At Vegums we wanted to recreate this for you and make it easier to cut down waste. That’s why we send all our starter packs and first subscriptions out with our signature click-clack tin.
Warning: popping open a vegums click-clack tin, then pinching it closed again can be extremely addictive. Many working hours have been wasted on this highly therapeutic act. We recommend you limit your clicking and your clacking to less than 30 minutes a day.
When designing the external packaging for Vegums we stripped it back to it’s naked cardboard tube. Then we realised that it was happier that way, so that’s how it’s stayed.
When you’re finished with the tube you can recycle or upcycle. Our subscribers often send us photos of their upcycled tubes, and there’s been some corkers! We’ve had plant pots and pen holders, coffee pots and snack storage. Someone even punched a coin-sized hole in the top and fashioned a piggy bank. However you upcycle yours remember to tag us in the photo and we’ll post the most imaginative on our Instagram and Facebook page.
PS: if you’d rather receive your order without the cardboard tube, then tick the box at checkout and we’ll sort that out for you.
Cellulose packaging is a more eco-friendly alternative to plastic packaging, along with recycled labels and biodegradable sealers. The new improved cellophane film used by Vegums has been accredited biodegradable and compostable to 'BS EN 13432' and 'OK Compost'. They are also approved for Anaerobic Digestion (ISO 15985) & Marine Biodegradation ASTM D6691-09. The film has also been tested to ensure that once composted there are no adverse effects on plant growth.
The packaging is made in the UK and derived from renewable wood pulp.
Cellulose is a substance from a plant cell wall, which can be extracted from waste plant material to produce the bio film used in Vegums bags. One used, these bags will biodegrade producing CO2 and H2O; these two compounds are combined with sunlight and converted into energy by plants in a process called photosynthesis. The resulting plant growth can then be used to make more Vegums bags!
Kevin makes plastic-free cellulose bags out of cornstarch and sells them from his unit in Chorley, Lancashire. His bags are special because they’re 100% biodegradable and can be thrown straight in your compost bin along with your potato peelings. We use Kevin’s bags to package our Gummy Vitamins, because like everything else from Vegums it’s completely plastic-free.
Finding an environmentally friendly way of delivering Vegums to your door has been tricky. The postal service will always leave a carbon footprint, but we can limit this with our choice of packaging.
Most padded envelopes contain plastic bubble wrap - fun for popping but unfortunately not recyclable. Jiffy to the rescue!!! Luckily Jiffy Green are padded envelopes made of kraft paper and filled with recycled macerated paper, which keeps your Vegums nice and secure and doesn’t leave a dirty great carbon footprint in its path.
Only naturally-derived flavours and colours are used to produce Vegums. Strawberry extract gives Vegums their delicious flavour and black carrot extract gives Vegums their distinctive red colour.
Working with the natural sweetness of real strawberries means that we can use less sugar. For this we use a pinch of unrefined cane sugar: 0.7g per gummy (a sixth of a teaspoon), which is also the same quantity as the sugar in a chewable vitamin.
per 2 capsules

|Potassium Iodide||150µg Iodine||100|
A plant-based diet is a wonderful thing. It almost always contains truck-loads of fruit and veg, which gives you more than enough vitamin A, B & C. Unfortunately there are some vitamins that are difficult to get from plants, and are largely present in meat and dairy products, such as vitamin D, B12, iodine and more. For this reason, a standard multivitamin would give you too much of what you already have and too little of what you really need.
Thankfully our Vegums pharmacists have got you covered. They have created a blend of vitamins that perfectly compliments a plant-based diet; easing-off on those that you get plenty of, while loading-up on the ones that tend to be absent.
And if that’s not enough, they taste delicious!
Corn Malt Syrup, Unrefined Cane Sugar, Glucose, Gelling Agent (Citrus Pectin), Acidity Regulators (Citric Acid, Sodium Citrates), Flavouring (Strawberry Extract), Coconut Oil, Vitamin D2, Colour (Black Carrot Concentrate), Selenium (Selenium Oxide, Sodium Hydroxide), Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, Iodine (Iodide, Potassium Hydroxide).
To make Vegums into chewy fruity gummy bears we have to add acidity regulators and gelling agents to our list of natural ingredients. Acidity regulators make sure that microbes cannot grow and help to give Vegums their balanced taste on the palate. Gelling agents (from the peel of citrus fruits) gives Vegums their chewy texture.
Due to high demand from our overseas friends we now ship Vegums anywhere in the world. When you enter your overseas address at the checkout, £4.95 will be added to cover the extra postage cost. But remember, adding additional friends/family to your order still means one postage cost. So why not combine your order and save money and air miles.

Vegums contain a fine blend of vitamins and minerals, which are more likely to be deficient in a plant-based diet. However they are not specifically designed to be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, and therefore if this applies to you we recommend you supplement according to the NHS guidance, of which your doctor or pharmacist can advise.
We aim to dispatch all our orders by the next working day. All UK orders qualify for FREE DELIVERY and should be with you within 2-4 working days after dispatch.
International orders will cost £4.95 for delivery. They should take between 8-12 working days after dispatch, depending on the destination.
Both! Many vegan parents have told us that they worry that their child is not getting enough of the vitamins and minerals they need, but really struggle to get them to take vitamin tablets. Vegums turn a daily chore into a treat, and not just for children; I mean who wouldn't rather chew a delicious gummy bear than swallow a pill?
Vegums have been specially designed to allow a simple dosage of ONE gummy bear for children (3-12 years old) and TWO for adults (and children over 12) - perfect for all the family!
Each gummy bear contains a pinch of unrefined cane sugar: 0.7g (a sixth of a teaspoon), which is also the same quantity as the sugar in a chewable vitamin.
A plant-based diet is usually packed full of essential vitamins and minerals, particularly vitamin A, B & C. However, some vitamins are difficult to get from plants, and are largely present in meat and dairy products, such as vitamin D, B12, iodine and more. For this reason, a standard multivitamin would give you too much of what you already have and too little of what you really need.
Thankfully our Vegums pharmacists have tailored a blend of vitamins that perfectly compliments a plant-based diet; easing-off on those that you get plenty of, while loading-up on the ones that tend to be absent.
And if that’s not enough, they taste delicious!
Absolutely not! We use pectin (from citrus fruits) as our gelling agent. Along with all our other ingredients, it’s totally vegan.
We’ve tested our Vegums using independent laboratories, and there’s no gluten in sight - certification for <5mg/kg. Testing for the 9 nut allergens gave results of <1-10mg/kg, but we cannot guarantee that Vegums don't come into contact with allergens during factory processing.
Although we have never known anyone to become ill from taking too many Vegums, we always advise that you stick to the recommended dose and seek the advice of a doctor or pharmacist if you know someone who has taken too many.
Vegums contain mainly water-soluble vitamins, which are easily removed from the body in urine if too much is consumed so these shouldn't cause a problem.
The only exception to this is vitamin D, which is fat-soluble and if taken at a very dose for a prolonged period of time can become harmful to the body. Taking 60,000 IU of Vitamin D a day for several months has been shown to cause toxicity. This is the equivalent of taking 150 Vegums every day for several months.
